Safehands Nursery at Kendal is situated a few minutes’ walk from the town centre on Captain French Lane, in a quiet residential area. Children are very well cared for in surroundings where they are encouraged to learn and explore through a “hands on” play-based approach. We are open from 7.30am until 6pm Monday to Friday, for 51 weeks of the year (closed Bank Holidays) and offer a variety of flexible sessions to meet your needs.

We are a 53-place nursery with three separate rooms for babies, toddlers and preschool. We have a nine-place baby room where our youngest children are able to play in a warm and safe environment. Our 20-place toddler room is open, bright and welcoming, with a wide range of exciting activities to support children’s learning. In our 24-place preschool room, activities are planned to help children develop the skills they need to be ready to move onto school when the time comes.

Our staff are thoroughly dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing and safety ofall our children. They are all highly qualified, and the manager has Early Years Teacher Status. All staff regularly engage in Continuous Professional Development training to maintain our high standards.

We promote healthy living and provide homemade meals for children, cooked on the premises daily using fresh ingredients. We cater for all dietary needs and all meals and snacks are included in the cost of the fees.

The outdoors is an integral part of our nursery life, and children have daily opportunities to play outside. In our newly refurbished garden, children are able to develop their physical skills through a variety of activities, such as climbing, balancing, riding trikes and building.

We plan regular daily and weekly activities based on children’s own individual interests to encourage them to be actively involved in their learning and development. Children are very much seen as individuals here at Safehands and we warmly welcome all children, celebrating diversity of every kind.
