Safehands Nursery at Rishton caters for children aged from birth to 5 years old. We are situated close to motorway links and the railway station. We are open 51 weeks of the year, except for bank holidays. The nursery has recently undergone a major refurbishment and the results are amazing!

Children are cared for within three age-specific rooms, we have a cosy 0–2-year-old room providing opportunities for our babies explore and develop. We have a large space for our two-year-olds with space for messy and exploratory play as well as spaces for children to have quiet time should they wish to. Our 3–5-year-old room is spacious and bright and has direct access to our outside area allowing children to free flow between the indoors and outdoors. Our rooms have access to changing facilities and toilets. Daily communication is important to us and we share information about your child’s day on a daily basis and we encourage parents to share information from home with us too.

We provide three balanced meals per day as well as snacks. We offer a serve yourself lunch with two choices for all children and a tasty dessert. Children choose their own lunch and help themselves to it, this develops a child’s independence and self-care skills with support and praise from the staff. Children are offered fresh drinking water throughout the day and fresh milk or water with mealtimes. We try to involve children in as much of the preparation as possible to develop their knowledge of healthy food and where it comes from.

We have an enthusiastic team of staff who create a warm and inviting environment for all of our children and their families. All children are allocated a key person to work in partnership with you and your child. Key people will be responsible for creating your child’s learning journey during their time at nursery. Learning journeys are a lovely keepsake for you to have once your child leaves to go to school.

Staff plan a range of activities for children to engage in ensuring that children are challenged and supported within their learning. We also encourage parents to become part of their child’s learning journey by sharing information from home and joining in with nursery activities

We have a green ethos within our nursery, we encourage children to recycle and we will soon be growing our fruit and vegetables. This will link in nicely with our nursery menus allowing children to assist with the preparation of their meals.
